Buena S. Bond Memorial Scholarship 2023-2024 Winners

 
 

 Riley Hudnall is a Junior at Murray State University where she is majoring in Agricultural Business. She is a former student of Warren East High School in Bowling Green, KY where she participated in the FFA (Historian, Secretary, Vice President), KYA (Secretary, Vice President, President), FBLA (Committee Chair), Student Technology Leadership Program (Leader), Beta Club (Secretary), Kentucky Empower Youth Assembly, Warren East Advisory Council, Academic Team and many more. Throughout high school and college Riley has completed approximately 280 hours of community involvement.  In college she participated in All Campus Sing, Swine Club, Agribusiness Club, Collegiate 4 H, Collegiate FFA, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering and Technology Club, Collegiate Farm Bureau, Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association, Kentucky Pork Producers Association and Kentucky Young Farmers Association. Riley has received a number of awards in high school and college some of which are Runner up at the Kentucky State Fair Officer for Barren River Region (2022), Regional 1st place in FFA Employability Skills Competition (2022), Regional 1st place in FFA Processing Proficiency Competition (2022), Regional 3rd place in FFA Swine Impromptu Speaking Competition (2022), State Beta Convention Choir (2022),  State Beta Convention Pledge Orator (2022), Regional Runner-up KyFB Outstanding Female Youth Speaking Competition (2021), Governor Scholars Program State Finalist (2021), Regional 3rd Place in FFA American Institute of Cooperatives Competition (2020), KUNA Bill signed into KYA Law (2020), Agriculture Future of America Delegate (2022), Dean’s List fall of 2022 and spring of 2023, HOSA Outstanding Swine Club Member of the Year (2023), and MSU All Campus Sing Residential winner (2023).

 

 
 

Nicholas Hockensmith is a Sophomore at the University of Kentucky, where he is majoring in Agriculture Ecosystem Sciences and minoring in Animal Science. He is a former student at Franklin County High School in Frankfort, KY. He was Franklin County FFA President (2020-2022), Kentucky FFA State Officer Candidate (2022), and a Member of the FCHS welding team (2019). He received the FCHS FFA Workhorse award (2019), FFA Greenhand Degree (2019), Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth Contest County and District winner (2019), FFA Star Chapter Winner (2021),  Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth Contest County Winner (2020), Capital City Regional FFA  Diversified Livestock Production Superior 1st (2021), Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth Contest County (2021), FCHS FFA Agriculture Mechanics Team Highest Individual Score (2021), Capital City Regional FFA Swine Production Superior 1st (2022), and Capital City Regional FFA Star in Agribusiness Finalist. He was very active in community service. In college, he is a Member of Alpha Gamma Rho Omicron chapter and received the VHR of Scholarship in 2023.

 

 
 

Jenna Coles will be a freshman at the University of Kentucky majoring in Accounting and Agricultural Economics minoring in International Business. She is a former student at Logan County High School in Russellville, KY where she acquired 45 hours of dual credits with 6 AP Classes. She was a Governor Scholar (2022), Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs 2nd place team (2021), Institute for Future Agriculture Leaders. Jenna started her own YouTube channel/business (2016 – Present), FFA treasurer (2022-2023), Fruit and Vegetable Speech State Winner (2023), Regional Star in Agribusiness (2023), Turf and Lawn Speech State Winner (2022), Scholarship award (2020-2022), 2nd Vice President (2021-2022), Nursery and Landscape Speech State Winner (2021), Regional Ag Communication Proficiency Champion (2021-2022), Committee Chair or Leadership (2020-2021), Shark Tank Grant Recipient (2020), Logan County DECA Region 2 and chapter President (2022-2023), DECA Sports and Entertainment Marketing 4th place team , DECA Vice President (2021-2022), DECA Restaurant Food Service Marketing State Winner (2021), DECA Director of Finance (2020 – 2021), Logan County Academic Team Varsity Captain (2021-2023), Co-Captain (2020-2021), Regional Champion (2021), District Champion ( 2019-2023), Member of the Logan County Mock Trial Team (2020-2023) where she was State Team Captain (2022-2023), Top Attorney (2022), Council Member (2021-2023) and Head Lawyer (2020-2021). She was also a member of the LCHS Archery Team (2019-2023) where she was awarded the Academic Archer (2019-2022) and made the Regional and State Team (2019-2023). Jenna was the Kentucky Farm Bureau Outstanding Youth State Winner (2022), LCHS BETA Club (2020-2023) where she came 3rd in the State Beta Speech Contest in 2022 and 2023. Also, she was a member of the LCHS FBLA (2021-2023) where she came in 5th in the State Impromptu Speech.

 
 

Evan Fuqua will be a freshman at Parkland College in Champaign, IL where he will major in Advance Applicator Technician with a minor in Advanced Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Drone Certification. Even graduated from Apollo High School in Owensboro, KY. He is a 10 year Daviess County 4-H Member where he has participated in many clubs including, The Daviess County Feeder Calf Club (overall winner 3 times), 4-H Crushers Trap Team, 4-H Livestock Club, 4-H Area Teen Club, Ag Mechanics Club, 4-H Clover Bud, 4-H Camp Participant, 4-H Clover Level 3. Evan was a 4 year Apollo High School FFA Member and the Apollo Senior Sweet 16 Member for the Class of 2023.
